Beautiful Christmas Cottage is as perfect as its sounds, located in the heart of the picturesque and historic village of Ashford in the Water. Immaculately presented with original features this 2 bed 19th century cottage offers stunning romantic charm with a fabulous, totally private, south west facing rear garden. Explore all that the peaks have to offer right from the door step, starting with Aisseford tea rooms, The Bulls Head pub and award winning Rafters Riverside Restaurant.
Built in around 1840 Christmas Cottage is located in the heart of the village of Ashford in the Water.
Free on street parking is available, normally right outside the property.
We have a 3-night minimum stay criteria.
The property is not suitable for non walking infants or infants in cots.
There are two reception rooms in the front portion of the cottage, sitting room and lounge.
In the rear portion of the cottage there is a large Kitchen/Diner, small utility and gorgeous marble lined bathroom. The Kitchen/Diner leads onto an amazing south western facing cottage garden, totally private and not overlooked.
The stairs ascend direct from the sitting room leading to two beautifully presented bedrooms, one has a double bed, the other has a single bed which can be made into either two singles or a large double bed.
Bedroom 1
Gorgeously presented master bedroom has double metal framed bed with drawer storage, dressing table, mirror and chair. There is a full length mirror and beautiful window seat looking out to the front of the cottage. Hairdryer is provide for each bedroom.
Bedroom 2
Slightly smaller bedroom to Bedroom 1, with two single beds which can be converted to a double bed on request. It has built in wardrobe which provide hanging space and other storage space. For couple stays this bedroom could be used as a dressing / wardrobe room.
Sitting Room - Front door leads directly to the quarry-stone tiled sitting Room with a Tetrad Leather sofa and chair with a beautiful open fire place. Beautifully furnished with original features.
The Lounge - is located off the back of the Sitting Room with a Tetrad textured weave sofa, chair and leather chair together with Gas log burner and SKY HD TV services including Netflix. Beautifully furnished with original features.
Kitchen/diner - stunning room located from back of the sitting room with solid engineered wooden floor. Double patio doors open out to an amazing south western facing cottage garden, totally private and not overlooked.
The kitchen/diner is the largest room occupying almost the entire width of the back of the cottage.
The Garden - a fabulous south west cottage garden with two very cute patches of lawn surrounded by planted borders. The patio areas include a two seater sofa, two chairs and a coffee table which can be turned into a day -bed by putting a cushion on the table (all the cushions are provided). Sun Loungers are available in the spring/summer months.
The garden is surrounded by walls to the east and south with a fence to the west side bordering the neighbouring property. It is private, the patio not being overlooked.

Getting around
There is free on street parking.
In our experience you can normally park outside the cottage but this is not guaranteed. There is free parking on Greaves lane and all around the village. Local shop is 20m away and the local pubs are less than 200 metres away. Rafters riverside restaurant is a 5 minute walk The well known Monsal trail (cycle and walking) can be walked to directly from the cottage within 15 minutes Bakewell is just under 2 miles away (20 minute riverside walk) Chatsworth House is 7 miles away (15 minute drive)
